Bis(indolyl) methane (BIM) as one of the main active components of anticancer and antibacterial drugs is applied in medicinal and extensive area of chemistry. In this research, BIM is loaded on the human and bovine serum albumins immobilized magnetic nanoparticles surface for using in drug delivery systems. Superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs) were prepared by co-precipitation method and then modified with [3-aminopropyl] tri-ethoxysilane (APTES) and then activated with 2,4,6-trichloro-1,3,5-triazine (TCT), covalently immobilized with human and bovine serum albumins and then BIM was interacted with immobilized serum albumins. UV-vis spectroscopy was used to estimate the binding capacity of serum albumins with modified superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs) and the BIM with albumin coated modified SPIONs. The structure and composition of synthesized nanoparticles were examined by x-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), dynamic light scattering (DLS), zeta potential, and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) analyses. Cell culture study was carried out in MCF-7 cell line (human breast adenocarcinoma cell line).

Statement of the Problem: The regularities of the formation of ceramic phases of silicon carbide modified by hafnium compounds during the thermal transformation of nanohafniumcarbosilanes (I) under various conditions were investigated.Methodology & Theoretical Orientation: Pyrolysis of nanohafniumcarbosilanes under argon, nitrogen or vacuum at 1500℃ with exposure for 1 hour, according to XRD, results in the formation of silicon carbide as the basic phase (SiC 89-99%). Pyrolysis of nanohafniumcarbosilanes in air at 1500℃ with exposure for 1 hour, according to XRD, results in the formation of quartz as the basic phase.Findings: Low-crystalline ceramic samples have been obtained; the phases observed in them have a nanoscale character, which is manifested in strong broadening of the lines, with the exception of the quartz phase. Silicon carbide and hafnium phases, as well as quartz (except for the sample obtained in vacuum) are observed in the samples, the content of quartz is 0.6-0.7% for samples obtained in argon and nitrogen. The phase of silicon carbide is described by the structure of moissanite 3C. In samples where the hafnium content is above 10%, the phase of hafnium oxide IV is observed, and in the sample that is obtained in argon there are both cubic and monoclinic phases. On the diffraction pattern of the ceramics sample (Hf content >10%) 1500℃ in a nitrogen atmosphere, in addition to the aforementioned phases of silicon carbides and hafnium, a silicon nitride phase is present, which is described by the structure of the nierite (~0.5 %).Conclusion & Significance: It is found that the thermochemical transformation of nanohafniumcarbosilanes at 1500℃ in different media (nitrogen, argon, air, vacuum) leads to the formation of ceramics, which differs not only in chemical composition but also in surface morphology.

Her scientific interests include synthesis, structure and reactivity of organoelement and organometallic compounds; fundamentals of new materials creation; nanoparticles, nanomaterials; development of new structural materials and coatings.

Statement of the Problem: Development of efficient synthesis methods of ceramics forming element oxane oligomers – precursors for the production of components (binders, impregnating compositions, fibers, powders) of highly pure ceramic composites based on aluminum, yttrium and magnesium oxides (Y3Al5O12, MgAl2O4, α-Al2O3).\r\n\r\nMethodology & Theoretical Orientation: Organomagnesium oxane–yttrium oxane alumoxanes were prepared by magnesium and yttrium acetylacetonates co-condensation with ethyl acetoacetate ethoxyhydroxy alumoxanes. Organometallic synthesis provides high purity, perfect nanostructure and unchallenged physic-mechanical properties of ceramic composites based on organomagnesium oxane–yttrium oxane alumoxanes. \r\n\r\nFindings: Ceramics forming organomagnesium oxane–yttrium oxane alumoxanes with the specified molar ratio of Al:Y and Al:Mg hydrolytically stable in air and soluble in organic solvents have been synthesized.\r\n\r\nConclusion & Significance: Thermal transformation of organomagnesium oxane–yttrium oxane alumoxanes results in the production of Y3Al5O12, MgAl2O4, α-Al2O3, that is, similar oligomers can be used to create a new generation of heat-resistant, optically transparent, corrosion and radiation-resistant ceramic composites. The particular advantages in the use of ceramic forming organoelement oligomers consist in the ability to control the composition and structure of ceramic compositions at all levels (microcrystalline, nanostructured or amorphous), which cannot be completely achieved by any other known methods.

David G Gogoli has completed his PhD from Georgian Technical University in 2013. He is a Research Scientist at R Agladze Institute of Inorganic Chemistry and Electrochemistry of I Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. His scientific interest is related to the field of electrodeposition of manganese alloys and fuel cells. He is an author of more than 10 papers in reputed journals and presentations at 6 international scientific conferences.

Due to high negative standard potential and availability, galvanic coatings of manganese and its alloys as protective materials can be promising for industrial exploitation. To decrease chemical reactivity of manganese, it is doped with metals having higher standard potentials such as copper, zinc, cobalt, nickel iron and others. We obtained mirror-like coatings based on a nanocrystalline, globular-shaped Mn-Zn alloy with a high Mn content (97-98%) from a sulfate-ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid disodium salt bath in the presence of sodium selenate (NS) as an additive. The conditions included: 5 g∙l-1 ZnSO4∙7H2O, 10 g∙l-1 EDTA, 58 g∙l-1 MnSO4, 68 g∙l-1 (NH4)2SO4, 0.33 g∙l-1 NS, pH 3-5.5; t=30℃; current density 0.1-0.175 mA/cm2; plating time τ=15min; coating composition: 97.5-98.5% Mn, 2.5-1.5% Zn; and current efficiency 45.2-51.7%. The nanocrystalline electrodeposited Mn-Zn alloy coating, featured broad and poorly defined diffractograms, x-ray diffractograms, which corresponded to a cubic α-Mn crystal structure. The sodium selenate additive, concentrations and nature of components in solution affected the production of a mirror like coating of the Mn-Zn alloy. The high content of manganese in the coating provides a high negative corrosion potential for the steel substrate therefore providing anodic protection of the steel. Silvery, fine crystalline, solid and nonporous coatings of Mn-Cu alloy are obtained only at high cathodic current densities (ik≥37.5 A∙dm-2) and within pH 6.5-7.5. Current efficiency of silvery Mn-Cu alloy coating from the electrolyte containing both, complex agent citrate and EDTA in equivalent quantities, was 42% (ik=37.5 A∙dm-2, pH 6.5, t=30℃). In the alloy, average content of manganese was 93%, copper 7%. X-ray diffraction pattern of the alloy shows the BCT (body centered tetragonal) γ-Mn solid solution phase with copper.
