Reader and Head
University of Liverpool
Dr. Yuyuan Zhao is Reader in Materials Engineering at the School of Engineering, the University of Liverpool, UK. He is a Chartered Engineer (CEng) and a Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (FIMMM). He serves on the Editorial Board of Powder Metallurgy, the official journal of the European Powder Metallurgy Association. He obtained his BEng and MSc degrees from Dalian University of Technology, and DPhil from Oxford University. He worked as a Lecturer at Dalian University of Technology and a Research Fellow at Birmingham University before he joined Liverpool University as a Lecturer. He pioneered the Sintering and Dissolution Process (SDP) for manufacturing porous aluminium and further invented the Lost Carbonate Sintering (LCS) process, which has been commercialised for mass production of porous metals. He has published over 85 papers in the processing, characterisation and modelling of particulate, porous and composite materials.
Manufacture of porous metals and syntactic foams by powder metallurgy routes and characterisation of their mechanical; Thermal; Acoustic and electrochemical properties.
